At Orezone Drilling we recognise that commitment to Sustainable Development is key to achieving our long term Strategic Objectives. This recognition of commitment necessitates our understanding and being responsive to our Stakeholders (client, community, government and employees) by partnering with them to find solutions to the sustainability challenges we face ahead.
We are aware that our economic, social and environmental challenges are increasing as we grow, both in Africa and internationally. These challenges are amongst others safety, social development, client requirements, legal requirements of the various countries, procurement and malaria management.
It is thus important that solutions are found that are acceptable and make sense to our clients, the employees and the broader community. To assist in finding solutions, Orezone Drilling has embarked on improving the supply chain to the various sites, implementing a mentor based training programme for the local employees, replacing the older drill rigs with new Dill rigs which have improved safety features such as rod handlers, and obtaining the ISO14001, ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 certification.
The benefits derived from the above initiatives are Drill Projects which have safe Drill Equipment, are backed-up by a professional supply-chain, are conducive to enhancing the skills of the local employees who have the potential to improve; thus, contributing to the community at large both economically and socially.
The ISO AND OHSAS Certification programme is used to control and monitor the company’s performance in Sustainable Development. Going forward, Orezone Drilling will strive to do business in a safe, sustainable and responsible fashion focusing on enhancing the company’s strengths and develop the skills in the areas we need to improve to attain continual improvement.
